Brittany Hulme

Hey there! I'm Brittany, a registered Paediatric Occupational Therapist supporting families in Fremantle, Cockburn, and Rockingham. With over seven years of experience, I implement relationship-based interventions that help children with emotional regulation, sensory processing, social-emotional skills, and play-based learning.

I hold a Bachelor of Science (Occupational Therapy) and a Graduate Certificate in the Diagnosis and Assessment of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD). My approach integrates evidence-based frameworks, ensuring that every child receives tailored, compassionate support that fosters confidence and independence.

A Holistic, Evidence-Based Approach

I believe that every child is unique and special, and that’s why I use a neuro-affirming approach when working with families. This means I focus on recognizing and celebrating your child’s strengths, while also supporting any challenges they may face. My goal is to empower children to be the best version of themselves by creating safe, connected, and responsive environments where they can learn and grow at their own pace.

As a passionate play enthusiast, I believe that play is the foundation of childhood learning. Whether we’re focusing on sensory play, fine motor skills, emotional regulation, or executive functioning, I incorporate play-based strategies to make development engaging, natural, and meaningful.

My practice integrates a range of evidence-based approaches to support skill-building, self-regulation, and participation in everyday life, including:
DIR Floortime – Encouraging meaningful engagement through child-led interactions, fostering communication, emotional connection, and problem-solving.
Trauma-Informed Therapy – Creating safe, responsive environments that support emotional well-being and resilience, recognizing the impact of past experiences on development.
Polyvagal Theory – Strengthening self-regulation by understanding the nervous system's role in emotional responses and social engagement.
Circles of Security Parenting – Helping caregivers build secure attachments with children, fostering emotional growth and relational safety.
Theraplay – Using interactive, structured play to support emotional bonding, confidence, and social engagement.
Interoception Curriculum – Teaching children to tune into their body's internal signals, improving self-awareness and emotional regulation.
Sequential-Oral-Sensory (SOS) Approach to Feeding – Supporting families in navigating sensory-based feeding challenges and restricted diets through a step-by-step approach to food exploration.

Through these approaches, I work collaboratively with caregivers and educators, coaching them to be responsive to a child’s cues, co-regulate effectively, and adapt environments to support participation and independence.

When it comes to achieving goals, I believe that the caregiver-child relationship is key.
That's why I work closely with parents, teachers, and childcare educators to build their skills and knowledge. Together, we can create a supportive environment that helps your child thrive.

Supporting Children & Living with Passion

I work with children who may face challenges with social-emotional development, learning engagement, and self-care skills. This includes children who are autistic, have developmental delays, experienced trauma, have ADHD, or fetal alcohol spectrum disorder.

When I'm not working with families and children, you can find me living my best life by playing indoor beach volleyball, exploring the outdoors, or enjoying a sunset. Those closest to me say I'm bubbly, creative, driven, caring, and active. Professionally, I'm known for being calm, organised, and patient. I'm all about creating a warm, welcoming, and safe space where families can share their needs and receive a service tailored to their goals.

So, let's team up and support your child to thrive
